About Surfside Primary School  Surfside Primary School is located 25km south east of Geelong , in the seaside town of Ocean Grove. The school began in 1992, and in our short history, the school motto, "Believe in Yourself" has been extended in every facet of the school. We provide an environment where all members of the school community are given the opportunity to develop a belief in themselves. Key planning and evaluation sessions take place within class units, resulting in a quality program being offered in the eight learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Health and Physical Education, Studies of Society and the Environment, The Arts, and Languages Other Than English (Indonesian).

Teachers use a variety of implementation strategies, which include: whole class and smaller groupings, co-operative learning, goal setting, self-reflection, peer tutoring (including Bellarine Secondary College ) and an emphasis on social and interpersonal skills. We have a first priority on the smallest possible class sizes. Parental assistance in a wide range of activities is welcomed and encouraged by class teachers. A well-developed integration program provides assistance for children with special needs and supports them through class and individual programs.

Our school provides computer access to all children, enhancing programs in curriculum areas. Students and parents are involved in a variety of enrichment programs such as Bike-Ed, Camps and Excursions, Whole School Celebration Days, Buddies, Choir, Band, Junior School Council, Artists in Schools, Parent Information Sessions, Early Years Literacy and Numeracy, Reading Recovery, Computers, Interschool Sport, Private Music Lessons, School Production, Arts Celebrations nights, etc. reflecting the needs and interests of our school community. Professional development of staff is highly valued and teachers share initiatives both across our staff and in the wider school community. The Surfside School Community supports the belief that interacting with other educators enhances programs for our students. Strong parent support exists at Surfside through our School Council Committee structure, together with assistance offered from the wider parent community. This allows for communication links with staff and ensures efficient use of available human resources.
