Welcome to M14! Here in M14 we are learning about Water Safety at the beach, swimming pools and rivers. We have been discussing what we know and what we need to know. This term we will be focused on paragraphing and making our writing more 'colourful' in our writing sessions. Water related topics will be a part of this. Our reading groups are reading a variety of shared texts. In these sessions students are involved with predicting, understanding the vocabulary, inferring, discussing the main ideas and making decisions about the meaning. It is amazing what the students learn from each other! In Mathematics we are reinforcing our knowledge about place value and using this knowledge in our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division work. Kitchen and garden activities are a highlight for the students. Just recently we made fried rice and lemon sauce pudding... yummy!!! Planting seeds, for example sunflowers, was most rewarding for the students. We will be patiently waiting for the different seeds to grow and then eat them!!!
